Beverley East is a leading authority in handwriting and has practiced the science of Forensic document Examination for twenty two years. She holds a communication Degree, and a Masters in Graphology. She was honored "Women of Achievement Award" by Flori Roberts cosmetic company in 2002, as the only woman of color worldwide disciplined and qualified in both areas of handwriting expertise. Ms. East has worked in the private and public sector of personnel management for more than 14 years for both British and US corporations. Her company Strokes & Slants was established in Washington, D.C in 1989 in London England and 1991 and in Jamaica in 2000. She consults with major companies world-wide. Ms. East is the author of a bestselling book Finding Mr. Write - a new slant on Selecting the Perfect Mate. USA Today listed it as a best summer read in 2002. Ms. East is an international speaker and has been a guest speaker at the House of Commons in London, The World Bank, several embassies and conferences across the globe. She has been a frequent guest on major television networks including Good Morning America, Later Today, MSNBC Homepage and BBC. She has been interviewed by the Washington Post, HR Magazine, Gold Digest and other print media. Her opinion has been requested by the media on landmark cases such as Monica Lewinsky, Jon Benet Ramsey, Anthrax letters and DC sniper’s handwriting. Since 2006 she has won several Will & Testament Cases in the Supreme Court in Kingston Jamaica and in 2009 in the High Court of Trinidad and Tobago, and several matters in Federal courts in Washington D.C. For six years she wrote a popular weekly Career column "Writefully Yours" for the Sunday Gleaner and for ten years she wrote "Reading your Writes" for the Sunday Herald. She is a contributor of two anthologies - "Journey to a Blissful Life" and "Journey to my Brother’s Soul". While researching and writing her debut novel she hosted three poplar radio shows "Living True", "Tell me about it", and "Frank and up Front". Ms. East founded the Writer’s Lounge - an on line writing course for aspiring authors. She completed her first novel based on the 1957 Kendal train crash "Reaper of Souls" was released on the 50th anniversary on September 1st 2007. Reaper of Souls was read at the Calabash International Literary Festival in 2008. Reaper of Souls was nominated for the Orange prize in Paris and has been chosen for numerous Book clubs around the world. |
